This has to be one of my favourite interviews ever. I didn't even know much about SJP before this interview. I mean, I knew she was Carrie in Sex and the City and that she wears awesome dresses to red carpet events but not too much more. She is so cool and also what attracted me more than anything to this video is how INCREDIBLE her house is! Look at all those books, and the sofa and the ping pong table, the carpet on the stairs. OK, I'll stop now but, wow.

MY WEEKEND IN PICTURES
Friday //
Saturday //
Sunday //
Saturday // Waking up at 6am every morning (except for Friday) in the week meant that I was wide awake by half seven Saturday morning. So, as I was up I thought I might as well do something useful and I headed to the gym for 9am (when it opens) to do some weights - it was leg day (which is my favourite day). Feeling pumped after the gym I went home, had a lovely breakfast, showered changed and headed down in to town (on my own) for a coffee and to read the papers. It was great. Upon arriving home I had the best text from Ellie - I think Miranda is really influencing her! So I spent my Saturday night watching back to back Gavin & Stacey - the best.
Sunday // After battling with the hale and the rain myself and Ellie made it down in to town to have some brunch. I had chicken liver pate & Onion chutney - scrumptious :) Oh, and a latte of course - it was one great latte as well. I also added to my book collection after buying these three new books for £5 (bargain of the century!) from the local charity book shop. Once I arrived home I was cream crackered and had a lie down listening to my favourite, Radio 6 Music.
All in all a successful weekend :)

END OF TERM PLAYLIST //
Over the last few weeks, since I discovered Spotify was now available on the iPhone and iPad I have been listening to numerous playlists for hours a day - while I walk to uni and back, while I'm in the gym, while doing work in the Library, before going to bed - ALL the time! I decided to make my own little playlist of music that I've been listening to as the Spring term comes to an end. It's a lot of relaxed melodies and not so much of the heavy guitar music that I normally listen to - it all helps me to unwind after a rather hectic term. Hope you enjoy //

SVENGALI MOVIE PREMIERE
Last Monday while in the library (as per usual) I got an e-mail from Universal saying that I had won two tickets to the Svengali premiere in Shoreditch, East London. I never win anything so this was a bit of a surprise! A few weeks before I had preordered the soundtrack to the film as it looked (and is) immense. It consists of everyone from Jake Bugg to The Stone Roses and The Pogues (I mean whats not to love). Anyway, after inviting my friend Sophie to come with me (she was incredibly excited - I mean seriously exited!) we began the journey to Shoreditch after a full morning of lectures on Tuesday.
It's fair to say that we had no idea what to expect when we arrived. It was not a massive premiere like the ones you see at Leicester Square but it was still an awesome experience. After being ticked off the guest list we headed up to the fourth floor of the Rich Mix cinema where all the photographers and interviewers were. Its a bit of an understatement to say that we felt like fish out of water but soon enough we felt like we could attend premiers every week (I'm sure there's a job where you can do that - I need it!)! Both Sophie and I just stared at everyone (not in a creepy way might I add) but we were just trying to take everything in. Alan McGee, Oasis' former manager, was just chilling by us for a while (I mean...!) and before entering the cinema to watch the film we got to meet the two main characters of the film - Dixie and Shell - Jonny Owen and Vicky McClure. This was cool. They were both so so nice and Jonny is from Wales so we had a little talk about the home land :)
The film was really cool and the story was very sweet. How could you not like a film where Martin Freeman (the Hobbit and Sherlock) dresses up as a Mod with incredible purple glasses which I seriously need in my sunglasses collection. Matt Berry from the IT Crowd and Huw Stephens (radio 1 DJ) also make appearances and its safe to say that the film is not short of laughs but also quite poignant moments. If you can, I highly recommend that you go see this film, or at least buy the soundtrack.
What an awesome experience - thanks Universal!

SUNNY WEEKEND WITH MAMA H
Mama H came to big bad Surrey a week or so ago to spend the weekend with her favourite child (me, obvs). The main reason for her visit was that Wales were playing England in Twickenham on Sunday in the Six Nations so we were heading to the London Welsh club in Richmond to watch the game on big screens with a load of other rugby supporters, including the comedian Rhod Gilbert. However, before that we headed to Notting Hill Gate / Portobello market for some brunch to start the day off right. I've only been to Portobello Market once before and I did not remember it begin soooo busy - it might have had something to do with the weather but man oh, man it was unbelievably chock-a-block with people which did not make for pleasant or easy browsing. So for this reason, we headed to have Brunch asap and then after a quick browse we jumped on the tube to Soho via White City where we saw the old BBC television centre. I did have a look around to see if I could spot Huw Edwards roaming the streets but no luck.
I much preferred Soho to the hustle and bustling Portobello market. Here we went in to a few record shops where I finally got my hands on the Skaters new album which I blogged about here and Lorde's Pure Heroin which I have been playing on repeat on Spotify. I also saw other albums that I really wanted but I had to control myself by reminding myself that I am a student living in the second most expensive place in the UK - not. fun. I also bought a new summer dress from a swedish brand which I can't remember the name of - a shop which I first went in to in Stockholm on our school trip to Sweden, ahhhh, memories. Having walked close to 8 miles we were ready for a sit down and a drink before food. We went to a pub/restaurant just off Soho and had a glass of prosecco and wine. China town was where we decided to have dinner and we ate at a nice but rather strange restaurant where you had to knock on the door to be let in - strange. When we got out of there a queue had formed outside with people who were waiting to be seated, so I guess I made the right decision by picking that place to eat. Even after eating quite a big meal we still wanted something sweet for when we arrived home and there was this cool little Chinese desert shop opposite where we ate dinner which was convenient and yummy :)
Sunday we made the short journey to a very sunny Richmond where we ate some brunch and made our way to London Welsh (via Twickenham stadium . . . don't ask). We watched some of the second half of the London Welsh game before grabbing a drink and sitting in the sunshine waiting for the international to begin. Wales thoroughly deserved to lose that day so no complaints from me, although it always hard losing to England whoever you are. But it's all ok though because Ireland won the championship and I am very happy for O'Driscoll - #thanksBrian.
Having never been to Richmond before but having passed it numerous times on the way in to Waterloo, myself and Mama H went for a little wonder down to the riverside after the game where we watched the sun set and the world go by while drinking our coffee and fighting away the birds. After a homemade salmon and salsa dinner and a few episodes of Blackadder and TwentyTwelve later it was time for bed and time to rest before the working week began once more. It's always harder to face going back in to the Library on a monday after a great weekend.

LONDON ALL GIRLS SKATE SESH //
Wow, the last week and a half has been sooooo busy its ridiculous - but a good ridiculous. It all started last Friday when I headed in to London for an all girls skateboarding session in BaySixty6, which is in the Notting Hill are of London. I got by first cruiser board for christmas around two years ago and instantly fell in love with the whole skate scene, attitude and also just the sport in general. I spent my downtime youtubing different skate edits and I especially loved the surfer vibe of Penny videos and other cruiser companies. Last christmas however I bought a traditional skateboard with the hope of becoming the next Penny Oki, or female Tony Hawk (one can dream).
Being in university kind of limits the time that I have to skate and especially as a beginner I didn't really want to embarrass myself in front of the tens of houses filled with families and students that surround the area where I practice. As a result, one evening a few weeks ago I e-mailed different skate companies and sites asking for information on female skate sessions and one women replied informing me of a London girls skate group that were organising an event in West London for skaters of all abilities. So with great fear I hopped on the tube with my board (which was a great conversation started btw) and arrived to find around 30 girls ready to skate - which was awesome although terrifying. One very kind woman helped me a lot and I learned to skate both up and down ramps and even attempted a few drop-ins which I think is pretty good for someone who has only properly skated a handful of times (excluding cruising). The session was for two and a half hours but I left a bit early in order to get back in time for my mam to arrive to spend the weekend with me.
They tell you to do one thing a day that scares you and I definitely did something that terrified me last friday but I am soooo glad that I did it. So even if your scared of doing something, like I was, pluck up the courage and do it anyway because you'll regret it if you don't.

I WANNA DANCE // SKATERS
Name: SKATERS
From: New York
I recently came across this band while roaming the depths of Spotify during my daily work marathons in the Library. I instantly liked them. After I began listening to them I googled to see if they were touring in London any time soon because I just think they'd be awesome live - they are touring but their short run of shows is coming to an end soon with them playing London's Dingwalls on the 5th of March (which I can't make, sadly). I also began to see their album being advertised in music mags such as NME - once you discover them you just can't get rid of them! Their punk/rock sound reminds me of the 90s. Their single I Wanna Dance [But I Don't know How] could slip into any music chart from the 1990s and they would not seem out of place. I urge you to check them out for yourself. Their album Manhattan is out now and its filled with great tunes - Miss Teen Massachusetts being one of them //
