Aberaeron //

A few weeks ago we had quite stormy weather here in Wales and across the United Kingdom and seaside towns were worse effected as the tide came crashing over the sea walls leaving behind pebbles, seaweed, sea creautors among other things across the harbour. Here are just some pictures I took while walking around Aberaeron one Friday afternoon.

NEW YEARS BEACH DAY

New Years day we headed down to the beach. I think I rather the beach in the winter time because there are hardly any tourists, the beaches are mostly empty and the sound of the waves hitting the sand is awesome. We always go to the same two beaches, so on Tuesday I decided to drive to another one that I haven't been to since I was in primary school. We arrived in Cwmtydu at around midday with my mum and I also picked Carwen up on the way.

The wind was incredible! I was standing on top of the beach wall trying to take a picture with my penny board and the wind was so strong that the board would just fly off! Myself and Carwen walked up the cliff that sheltered the beach. When we got close to the top we could see miles and miles of sea. It was beautiful. I also brought my penny with me so we did some skating on the little road that leads to the beach. Another reason why I love winter time by the sea is because there are hardly any people, there is hardly any traffic which means that you can safely skate on the roads.

Once we'd been there for an hour or so, we headed down the single track road to another, more popular beach in Llangrannog. The place was absolutely packed. There was no room to park, there were loads of people on the beach and the pubs were even fuller. I managed to find a place to park tucked away by some boats. Carwen, Hendrix and I ran out to take some pictures and then jumped back in the car to come home. It was freezing there!

I love the beach and I love that I live so close to the coast :)

ROAD TRIP - SAINT DAVIDS

On Monday we headed down to Saint Davids in Pembrokeshire - the smallest City in the UK and a home to an amazing cathedral. I've visited there before but many, many years ago when I was around 6/7 years old. This time however I was with the Italians! When we got to the Cathedral I took my time to walk around and read about all the interesting people who have been apart of the cathedral. A church has been on the same site in the city since the 6th century, and prayers and services have been held from Tudor times. The architecture of the place was something else! On some of the walls you could even still see some of Henry VII's paintings and decor. It's quite strange standing in the same place as someone would have stood 5 centuries before. 


The current Canon Residentiary of Saint David is the Vicar who baptised me way back when - Dorian Davies! I think that that's kind-of cool! Saint Davids itself is a very small place with quaint and different shops. We passed many surf shops selling both boards and close. The Fat Face shop they had was situated in an old stone house which I thought looked so cool and much better than your average Fat Face store on the high street. If you're looking for different shops with lovely clothes and home ware then I think that you'd like Saint Davids. 


We roamed around the cathedral for a while and then we began our short coastal walk. We walked from the middle of town to the beautiful coastal path of Pembrokeshire - thankfully it was dry and sunny because otherwise I'm sure we'd have lost a few Italians to the sea! I always love a good coastal walk and you can't really beat the Pembrokeshire coast. We ate our lunches close to the cliff edge observing climbers, abseilers and tombstoners. Before we made our way back to campus we stopped off at Newgale beach which isn't far from Saint Davids. The children played football, rugby, volleyball they also did some sand writing and had a refreshing swim (freezing swim more like it) in the open sea. 


When we arrived back on to campus, and as everyone was so exhausted, we cancelled the treasure hunt and we put a film on for them to watch (or sleep too) instead. The trip, although a bit stressful, as we had over 120 children to look after, was really enjoyable as the incredible coastal views and the cathedral were very interesting and beautiful.

NATURAL BEAUTY.

Yesterday I didn't really feel like revising. I've already gone over the stuff so many times I thought I'd give myself a day off. However that's all I did was moan about how I should be revising although I didn't know what, but I was sure I should be revising something! After watching some rugby I headed out to the garden to do some weeding. This is how badly I wanted to distract myself from my exams and revision! Whilst I was out there pulling weeds out of the soil I saw a little ladybird on one of the plants, so I rushed in to grab my camera and obviously it had flown away by the time I came back! I though whilst I was in the garden I might as well take some pictures. It's quite nice just to sit in the garden, relaxing actually, with the birds all atweetin' and the trees all ablowin'.
