SCHOOL'S OUT.

There we have it. 7 years of school has come to an end. (I've already written a post about my time in school here) Last Tuesday I had my History A-level exam which went quite good but you can never tell and I hate it when people ask me how the exam went because I have no idea! Yesterday I had my geography exam which I felt was horrible at first because of the way they asked the questions but I think it went OK. We'll just have to wait! I think the waiting might be worse than the actual exam taking because you spend the next 2 months thinking about things you could have written or if you wrote the right stuff! Arghhhh! Oh well I guess you just have to forget about it and concentrate on the present. Talking of the present, today I leave for London, we'll be staying there tonight as we have an early flight to New York tomorrow! I'm beginning to get excited now because I don't have to worry about revising I can just focus on what I'll be doing in the big apple. I'm not sure if I'll be able to blog whilst out in the states but I'm sure I'll have loads of pictures to share with you when I return home! I also picked up my leavers hoodie today from school! This officially marks the end of my time at Ysgol Gyfun Llanbedr Pont Steffan and (hopefully) the beginning of my time at University and in the real world! See you when I return from NY!

THOSE 7 YEARS FLEW BY

Wow. 7 years of school came to an end last Friday. I still have my exams in June but I have no timetabled lessons anymore. I wont have to stand in the back of the hall for Assembly anymore and neither will I sit in the common room during my free lessons chatting and laughing with my friends waiting for the bell to go. Wow. That's all I can say. Even though school to people seems to be the worst place on earth, for me it is actually an enjoyable place. The lessons are OK, especially in sixth form as I'm taking the subjects that I actually want to do - English literature, Geography and History, but the real thing I enjoy about school is the socialising.

My close friends have changed numerous times since year 7 but I've always had the same friends surrounding me. With these friends I started my first day of secondary school back in September 2005! 2005 -wow! (I think wow is the word of this post!) It is with these friends that I've been on school trips with from Denmark in year 8, History trip to France and Belgium in year 9, Skiing in Austria in year 10, Sweden in year 12 and Ireland in year 13. These friends were with me whilst I walked down the catwalk to raise money for charity, and these friends were also there to congratulate me for my rugby, exams and general success.

The teachers have also been incredibly helpful. Not everyone. Not all the time. The majority however have been great and even though it might sound weird but you do create a close relationship with these people you see everyday for 7 years! They know you extremely well and understand you as a person, your likes and dislikes, your strengths and weaknesses. I have been extremely lucky that I've had teachers that I get on with and who are also very good at what they do! Thank you!

On Friday (our last official school day) I arrived in school at around 11:30am in order to give my teachers 'thank you' gifts. It was quite a stressful couple of days organising all the presents but in the end we pulled it off! To most of the teachers we gave them pictures, flowers, cake and even an autograph of Stephen Jones (Welsh rugby player). Before the present giving however we headed to the canteen and had our last all-together-year13-school-lunch. We then changed into our shorts and t-shirt (it's been boiling here for the last week or so! Like really hot!) and headed down to the field to play some rounders! Classic game. Carwen and I  then headed to Conti's to grab some homemade ice cream and then we headed back to her house to get ready for her 18th birthday party that was later that night. What a wonderful day!

With out a doubt I'll miss school and its friendliness and its familiarity but I'm also very excited to move on to the next stage and to university. Wow, (there's that word again!) university!

Just have to successfully get these exams done first!

HAPPY SEIS DE MAYO!

Saturday night was Jodie's birthday party and as it was Mexican Independence day it was a Mexican theme parteeeey. I decided to wear a plain black Asos dress with my new Annie Haak necklace and bracelets. I entered the party wearing my new Ravel coral high heels but soon changed to my glittery converse! It was quite cool actually because everyone was dancing around wearing sombreros or mexican related attire and eating chilly!

I didn't do much during Saturday because I was feeling a bit sick and at 5am Sunday morning I was actually sick and I mean sick! So as I didn't sleep much Saturday night (only around 5 hours) I didn't do much Sunday either! Thankfully it's May bank holiday this weekend so I have an extra day off to chillax and get my homework done!

ANOTHER BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!

Thursday the 3rd of May was Ruth's birthday. After a busy day driving around going to Lampeter, Physio then back to school, I headed to Frankie and Bennies in Carmarthen to celebrate Ruth's 18th. If you're going to F&B's for a birthday celebration you can ask them to bring out a cake for you and when they do this the lights go down and 'Happy Birthday' is played across the restaurant (which is quite hilarious and annoying the same time!) Well Ruth wasn't aware but we had planned for this to happen and her reaction was hilarious!

I had a Philly Steak Bake which was yummy and then I opted for a piece of Ruth's Caterpillar cake for pudding rather than ordering anything of the menu because I was stuffed! After finishing our meal and having a little chat we started our way home. After getting in the we all had an urge to cruise through town with the windows down and Rhianna's 'Only Girl in the World' full blast! It was hilarious! Carwen (who was driving) was laughing so hard that she had to stop in the middle of the road to control herself!

We were nearly out of Carmarthen when Ruth asked if we'd like to go visit her Nanna! And thankfully we said yes because she was a legend! Nicola,Ruth, Carwen and I were sitting in her lovely warm living room for about and hour and a half just listening to her stories such as the one when she drove round a round-a-bout the wrong way! Classic.

We eventually left Carmarthen at around 10pm after a very lovely time!



THINGS JUST GOT A LITTLE MESSY!

On late Wednesday night / early Thursday morning myself along with a few other people headed over to Ruth's house to cover it in all sorts of disgusting stuff such as beans, shaving foam, dog food and toilet paper! This was all done to celebrate her 18th birthday! It's quite a weird tradition that is only really seen in farming areas in the countryside! One thing's for sure is that it's soooooo fun to demolish people's houses! ;)

LISA IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY!

Last Friday the 27th of April was my 18th birthday!

I am now a legal adult! Well . . . technically I am! Upon waking up on Friday morning I looked  out of my bedroom window to see that the house had been attacked with beans, flour, mashed banana and cling film! This might seem odd but where I live on the eve of someones 18th birthday we go over and plaster their houses with food and toilet paper!

After unwrapping my car and removing the banana's I went to school. The corridors were sprinkled with photos of me as a baby along with more recent photographs. After  a lovely morning in school I headed home and opened some presents. I received a silver ring from mam and dad along with Annie Haak bracelets and a bottle of pink champagne. For my birthday I also received Pa-Pa jeweller Thomas Sabo charms many necklaces and even more awesome bracelets.  I even received a digital canon camera from my friends!!!

That evening Carwen, Nicola, Ruth and I went to La Calabria an Italian restaurant in Ffostrasol near Llandysul. It was actually sooooo yummy! They make the best homemade ice-cream and chocolate and cherry cake. Arrrr it was so nice! We also ordered a bottle of prosecco to celebrate!

Saturday was a much more busy day! Carwen, Owen, Rhodri and I started the day by attempting to put up a gazebo! Half way through we discovered that a piece was missing so we had to drive up to town to get another gazebo and then put the new one up! Also we had to cook the food and decorate the house! I was very stressed! Then at around 7o'clock people started to arrive and we had a good night and eventually went to bed at around 3am!

Sunday was much more of a relaxed day. Which was a great way to end the birthday weekend! Ohh I also applied for my accommodation on Sunday also - I've decided to go to Royal Holloway in September!
