NEW YORK - DAY 2

As New York City is 5 hours behind us in the UK my body clock was all messed up! After being awake for over 20 hours the day before and going to bed at 11pm, I still woke up at 4am! Why? I don't know, but in my time it was 9am which is later than I usually wake up! As we were awake we showered and were out of the hotel by around 8:30am! We had a busy day planned so we headed over to 5th avenue to begin our day. One thing I hadn't realised was that shops don't open in till around 10am in the city so whilst we waited for them to open we headed in to the Trump Tour to have a little breakfast. What a building! The whole place was made of marble and had a fountain running down the walls of 3 floors! That man has more money than sense!

There was even a motorbike in the middle of the reception! #cleanoff!
After an iced caramel soya latte and walnut and banana bread we headed to Abercrombie and Fitch. What a horrible shop! Not only was it extra dark but the music was so loud I could even speak to the shop workers without having to repeat myself numerous times! We did buy a few (a lot) of things but still - turn the music down! We also visited Tiffany's (obviously!)

After a little shopping we headed to 30 Rockefeller Center, where 30 Rock is based and where Saturday Night Live and Good Morning America is filmed! Rhys Ifans was there on Monday! We didn't have time to go see him though - he is so cool! We went right up to the observation deck which is on the 70th floor. The views were incredible and even though it was a little bit overcast you could still see for miles. Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge and the Hudson River were just some of the iconic views we could see.

We began making our way down to the Empire State building once we were back on solid ground. On the way we visited the New York Public Library, Grand Central Station and the Chrysler Building.

Next we headed to Macy's and my oh my it such a big shop! I bought a few Jessica Simpson shorts from there but it was such a big shop!

We had a lovely supper in Little Korea. Yuuum.

Once the sun set we headed up to the Empire State building. The views were incredible - New York at night! It was beautiful with all the office and apartment lights sparkling and the taxi lights were like ants across the city.

After our lovely time looking across the city at night. We walked back through Times Square and back to our hotel! What a busy but great day!

NEW YORK - DAY 1

Since we did so much and took so many pictures whilst in the big apple I've decided to make a post for each day we were there.

Day 1

On Wednesday morning our flight left Heathrow airport at 10:50am. It took us 6 hours and 58 minutes to reach Newark airport in New jersey. When we walked out of the airport in to our bus which took us to our hotel in Midtown Manhattan the heat was incredible. New York was experiencing a heat wave! It was 38 degrees celcius when we landed! Hot Hot Hot! Our hotel was situated just a 2 minute walk from Times Square, 5th avenue and Broadway!

Whilst walking in Times Square we looked up at the massive screen above Forever 21 and we were on TV! We're famous!

Whilst walking around Times Square we went in to a couple of shops like Bilabong, where I bought a dress and a cardigan. Then we headed in to the M&Ms shop - we've now been to them in New York, Las Vegas and London, which means we've only not been to 1 which is in Orlando, Florida! Here mother went crazy and bought loads of magnets, t-shirts, PJ's and a M&M Statue of Liberty!

After Times Square we headed down to 5th Avenue to find the apple shop so I could buy my ipad so I didn't have to worry about buying one for the rest of the holidays! We walked for ageeees in the heat, even though it was 10pm it was still around 25 degrees! Eventually, after asking a couple of door men, we found the apple shop and wow it was something else!

After buying our ipads we made our way back to 7th avenue where we were staying and on our way back we stopped at the Brooklyn Diner - a typical dinner you see in films where there were booths a bar and the NBA finals on TV. I had a pestrami and corned beef sandwich (which was more of a mountain!) and mam had the brooklyn diner deluxe burger! It was lush! There was a lot of it though and I didn't manage to eat it all but it was lovely! Especially after being awake for over 20 hours it was nice to re-charge my batteries!

After our lovely meal we headed to bed at around at 10:30pm!

HONEY I'M HOME!

Well hello there! Yesterday I arrived back in Wales after our 5 day break in New York! This is just a little post to say that the trip was awesome and that I'll be writing a post today about the trip! I think the post is going to take ages since I took well over 400 pics! Check in tomorrow and the post should be up! :)

SCHOOL'S OUT.

There we have it. 7 years of school has come to an end. (I've already written a post about my time in school here) Last Tuesday I had my History A-level exam which went quite good but you can never tell and I hate it when people ask me how the exam went because I have no idea! Yesterday I had my geography exam which I felt was horrible at first because of the way they asked the questions but I think it went OK. We'll just have to wait! I think the waiting might be worse than the actual exam taking because you spend the next 2 months thinking about things you could have written or if you wrote the right stuff! Arghhhh! Oh well I guess you just have to forget about it and concentrate on the present. Talking of the present, today I leave for London, we'll be staying there tonight as we have an early flight to New York tomorrow! I'm beginning to get excited now because I don't have to worry about revising I can just focus on what I'll be doing in the big apple. I'm not sure if I'll be able to blog whilst out in the states but I'm sure I'll have loads of pictures to share with you when I return home! I also picked up my leavers hoodie today from school! This officially marks the end of my time at Ysgol Gyfun Llanbedr Pont Steffan and (hopefully) the beginning of my time at University and in the real world! See you when I return from NY!

No more wearing this uniform!

Leavers Hoodies

My very worn deputy head girl badge!

PEOPLE I ADMIRE #1

This weeks 'Things I'm loving right now' is more of a thing rather than things and actually it's not a thing at all but rather a person. It's Caitlin Moran. During the summer I was sitting my GCSE's I remember picking up a copy of the Times one Saturday and reading Caitlin Moran's article on Glastonbury and her column in the magazine. I think that nearly every Saturday during the summer I bought the newspaper just to read her column. However as A-level work started to build my social life vanished and there was no time to read anything other than my constant English, History or Geography essays. Then, however,  popped up 'How to be a Woman' by Moran and once more I was hooked. Yesterday I watched Moran at the Hay festival on sky arts and . . . well . . . what can I say other than she is just so cool! She rocked up in a leather jacket and some DMs and talked about how it's possible not to parade around in bodycon dresses and still be able to live and thrive in society! It's Moran along with Rory Gilmore (fictional character from the amazing Gilmore Girls) and Christiane Amanpour that actually made me want to become some sort of a writer be it a journalist or screenwriter in the future.

I suppose Caitlin Moran is right, all women are feminists even if we acknowledge it or not. If we as women expect to be treated equally to men, if we expect to have the same laws and regulations as our fellow citizens, then we are, whether we like it or not, feminists. I didn't think of myself as a feminist before at all. Feminism to me was unwashed, unhygienic, men hating lesbians. Now I see that isn't all true! Whenever you read any of Moran's writing you're guaranteed a laugh and in times of constant exams and other worries this is always a good thing!

So, Thank you Caitlin Moran.

Www yeah, I also discovered that Moran's husband, Peter Paphides, went to Lampeter Uni. Big up Lampeter massive!

CHILLAXING DAWG.

Well hello there! Sorry for the lack of blogging this week but I do have a legitimate explanation! I woke up Thursday feeling soooo sick and have spent the last couple of days on the sofa watching TV and sleeping (much like Hendrix is doing in this picture). I've also got one more exam to revise for - Geography on Tuesday. I'm glad that I've revised it all many times already so I know it pretty well so I'm not panicking that much since I've not been able to revise for the last couple of days. I also missed the Carmarthen Quins rugby presentation last night which I'm quite gutted about because that was my last season with them as I'm now to old to play for the U18's, but I just felt to sick to go. Though, I'm glad that I felt like this this week because next week I have my exam and then I'm straight off to New York for 5 days! However, there is one good thing that's come out of all this - I've rekindled my love for the Gilmore Girls! I love that program sooooo much! I've probably watched every episode nearly 3 times - the word obsessed might come to your mind! Now I just need to revise, pack and relax!

THINGS I'M LOVING RIGHT NOW.

I decided to make a new regular feature called 'Things I'm loving right now'. Basically it's just certain things that I've recently been enjoying such as inspirational photos, bands, fashion, film, TV, decor etc.

Extremely Loud Incredibly Close - I watched this film last night and it was so good. The film is so simple in it's plot and has only a small number of characters, but it is so powerful. You're able to experience the 9/11 disaster through a different perspective. No wonder it was up for Best Film at the Oscars 2012. Worth a watch.

Men In Black 1,2&3 - Due to the release of the new MIB I bought a box set which included the first 2 films from Tesco. I was quite young when the films came out so only remember snippets, such as a lone standing cow outside a farmhouse! I frickin' love MIB I really, really do! I don't know why but I find the whole MIB series to be in my top 5 favourite films!

TOMS - Toms are the comfiest shoes I have ever bought! It's like wearing slippers! I'll always be faithful to my beloved Converse, but these shoes are close to perfect. I say close because you can't really wear socks with them, and if you wear them as much as i do they start to smell a bit. You can always give them a wash so all is good! I've been looking for a new pair to take with me on holidays and these are perfect. The flowery pattern is so cool and because of their comfort they'll be perfect to stomp around New York!

Summer Garden Party - I love little garden parties like this. Vintage style fabrics around comfy cushions and fairy lights surrounding the area. Perfect for a hot summers' night!

Surfer Dude - I love this girls' hair. It's sooooo cool! The boards are also just so colourful and lush! Even though I can't really surf I'd love to have these in the house as nice decor!

Madness - These Mods performed on top of Buckingham Palace during the Jubilee concert. They even turned the palace in to a block of flats which is very cool. These guys will also be performing at V-festival in August which I've bought tickets for! (: Can not wait!

Guide Book - The Rough Guide to New York is very good. At the top of each attraction/place they give you the subway number you need. A very handy book that I'll certainly be carrying with me around the Big Apple!

NATURAL BEAUTY.

Yesterday I didn't really feel like revising. I've already gone over the stuff so many times I thought I'd give myself a day off. However that's all I did was moan about how I should be revising although I didn't know what, but I was sure I should be revising something! After watching some rugby I headed out to the garden to do some weeding. This is how badly I wanted to distract myself from my exams and revision! Whilst I was out there pulling weeds out of the soil I saw a little ladybird on one of the plants, so I rushed in to grab my camera and obviously it had flown away by the time I came back! I though whilst I was in the garden I might as well take some pictures. It's quite nice just to sit in the garden, relaxing actually, with the birds all atweetin' and the trees all ablowin'.
